Max’s Story
Max was born in the spring of 2012, a bouncy golden retriever with ears too big for his head and a tail that never stopped wagging. From the very first day he came home, Max became part of the family — loyal, gentle, and full of joy.
As a puppy, Max loved nothing more than chewing shoes and curling up on the sofa, where he quickly claimed his favourite spot. He grew fast, and soon his daily walks turned into adventures. Whether chasing tennis balls in the park, splashing in streams, or rolling in muddy puddles, Max lived each day with boundless energy.
Over the years, Max became a faithful companion for every family occasion. He welcomed visitors with a wagging tail, comforted us on quiet evenings, and always seemed to know when someone needed a cuddle. His favourite activities included long walks through the woods, playing fetch at the beach, and dozing in the garden on sunny afternoons.
Max had a playful spirit but also a calm, gentle side. He was especially fond of children, often lying quietly by their side as they read or played. He loved being part of holidays and celebrations, never missing the chance to sneak an extra treat or join in the fun.
As he grew older, Max slowed down but never lost his sparkle. Even in his senior years, he enjoyed gentle walks, soft toys, and sitting by the fireplace. His eyes still lit up whenever the lead came out, or when he spotted a favourite snack.
In 2024, after twelve wonderful years together, Max peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge. Though he is no longer with us in body, his memory lives on in every photo, every video, and every heart he touched.
This memorial is a place to remember Max’s life — the joy he brought, the love he gave, and the paw prints he left behind.

The Poem
For Max
Twelve springs we shared, my golden friend,
From muddy walks to days that seemed to never end.
At Gullane’s shore you chased the tide,
At Arthur’s Seat you walked with pride.
You knew my moods without a word,
A wag, a glance — my heart you stirred.
From puppy mischief to gentle years,
You gave me laughter, comfort, tears.
Now by the fire your place is still,
Yet in my memory you always will
Be wagging, waiting, full of cheer —
My loyal Max, forever near.
